[Growth and yield of chokeberry [Aronia melanocarpa] in first years of fruiting under the conditions of province of Elblag [Poland]]

The growth and yields of Aronia melanocarpa were studied in the 3d, 4th and 5th years after planting. The number of inflorescences and of fruits per raceme and the chemical content of fruits were also investigated. It was found that the growth of plants did not differ in particular years. The number of inflorescences and the yield significantly increased with the growth of bushes, the number of berries per raceme was the same. The content of dry matter was higher in the older bushes. Much higher contents of vitamine C and sugars were found in two-year and three-year bushes
