Complexes of weed control in agroecosystem
1994
Kuil, T. (Estonian Agricultural University, Tartu (Estonia). Department of Land Management of EAU)
Under the conditions of deep decline in agriculture (insolvency, sharp decline in the application of herbicides, fertilizers and manures) the complexes of weed control, where a biological agent could be realized by a practical solution, should be used more efficiently than before. The chief goal will be keeping weeds under control, not their total eradication. Direct weed control, the method, rate and intensity of application, depends consideably on the state and properties of the soil enviroment: 1. Low soil fertility increases the extent and intensity of work. 2. Sequence of crops in rotation is determined by soil fertility and tillage at the moment. 3. Radical decrease in the quantity of weed seeds in manure is one of the main prerequisites for successful weed control
