Vipper, I. | Lauringson, E. (Estonian Agricultural University, Tartu (Estonia). Department of Land Management.)
The research into the technique of direct sowing at the cultivation of winter rye after field grass was carried out by the Department of Land Management in 1991...1992. The initial research data were as follows. The technique of direct sowing without previous soil tillage had no essential and reliable influence on the bulk density and moisture of the soil in the following year (1992). Under the influence of direct sowing the number of earthworms in the plough layer of 25 cm was increased on the average by 101 000, i.e. by 16.3 per cent per hectare. At the same time, spraying with a mixture of herbicides 0.5 kg lontrele +6 g glin per hectare decreased the number of earthworms on the average by 128 000, i.e. by 17.5 per cent per hectare. Spraying with a mixture of lontrele and glin considerably decreased the number of weeds by 60 per cent on the average
