Dimensions of organizational climate and performance of Irrigator's Association in communal systems in the Bicol mainland

This study aimed primarily to determine the relationship between the dimensions of organizational climate, the quality of support services on trainings inputs, loans, and technical assistance that farmer members actually get/want and the performance of the Irrigators Association in communal systems in the four provinces, namely: Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and Sorsogon in Bicol Mainland [Philippines]. The findings of the study revealed that the Irrigator's Associations in the communal systems in Bicol Mainland were mostly organized between 1975 and 1978; have an average service area of 722 hectares; practice two cropping seasons per year. Only 48 percent of the services area was cropped. IA members could be described as predominantly male, married, had an elementary education, own the farm they tilled, and had an average age of 54 years old. Average household size was 6 and the average annual income was P26,988.00. In general, the organizational climate of IAs in communal systems in Bicol Mainland was given a rating of 4 implying that the environment within the irrigator's associations was much effective in bringing about member's willingness to achieve organization goals. Likewise the farmers perceived the quality of support services as good while the Provincial Irrigation Engineers (PIEs) assessed the quality as fair. The PIEs tend to have a more conservative view on the quality of support services such that their ratings were usually lower than the assessment level given by the farmers
