Genetic studies for yield and yield components in wheat (Triticum aestivum L. EM. Thell)

The nature of gene action was studied for yield and yield components in a set of diallel crosses involving six wheat varieties. Graphic representations showed that flag leaf area and 1000 grain weight were governed by additive type of gene action with partial dominance. Number of tillers per plant and yield per plant were under the control of overdominance type of gene action. Epithetic effects were detected for all characters under study.
