Chemical composition of plants cultivated in fields affected by the copperworks "Legnica"

The contents of N, P, K, Ca and Mg in cereal grain and straw, sugar-beet leaves and roots and in potato tubers were found not to deviate from those generally met in other regions of the country. The contents of Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe occurred within limits admissible for food and forage purposes. Excessive concentration lead in sugar beet leaves was found in 1988, while a lower one-qualifying for forage purposes - in 1989. The content of this metal in cereal grain and potato tubers was at upper limit admissible for consumption purposes. The amounts of lead in cereal straw and sugar beet root complied with forage and industrial requirements
