[Treatment of tendon defects in horses by graft method]

Thirty one surgical procedures of filling up a tendon defect with a tendon graft were performed under general anaesthesia. In 13 cases autogenic tendons were transplanted, in 17 cases the defects were filled up with live allogenic grafts and once a frozen allogenic graft was used. The possibility of treatment of the total defect of a tendom was tested in eight procedures. Allogenic tendom grafts both live and preserved do not cause the graft rejection reaction in horses. The graft method treatment of tendom defects does not cause the development of adhesions between tendons of flexor digital muscles in horses
