Three types of goats exist in Tunisia: Berber goat, Nubian goat and Maltese goat. Range and forest lands are the main sources for feeding goats and production system depends primarily on feed availability, production systems practiced are sedentary, unsedentary, intensive and house keeping. The main diseases and parasites of goats are listed. Reasons for production constraints and development comprised legislations for goat browsing in woodland areas. Proper solutions for maximizing goat production and development were suggested.
