Concerning changes of photosynthetic characters in spring wheat in the course of breeding for productivity

Proceeding from the data presented in this paper it is noted that for the most part the values of potential photosynthetic intensity in modern varieties exceeded those in cultivars of old-local and local breeding. The reliability criterion of differences (tst) between the varieties by the parameter given was rather high (from 3,7 to 16,7 with its confidence level beta=0,95; 0,99 respectively). There is a positive correlation in 1 m**2 grain yield and in "a" and "b" chlorophyll content (r=0,63 and r=0,72). Among the new varieties regarding their photosynthetic and production parameters such cultivars as Druzhba, Leningradka, Zarya have been discerned, the early ripening varieties Vyatskaya 12, Krokhinskaya and Novinka being distinguished amongst old breeding samples
