Oribatides are characterized as biogeocoenotic components; their contribution to pedogenetic processes and turnover of the elements has been assessed, and the prospects of zoological method application to soil diagnostics are discussed. Data on oribatides populations in Siberian soils have been summarized. Regularities in oribatides pool in regional and zonal aspects have been revealed
