Bacteriology of camel lungs

Affected lungs from one hundred camels slaughtered at Faisalabad and Lahore Abattoires were perused for possible bacteriological isolations. Among these, 37 lungs were detected free of pathogenic bacteria. In remaining 63, the micro-organisms isolated were: Corynaebacterium, 13 cases (20.63) staphylococcus 19 cases (30.15), streptococcus 7 cases (11.26), escherichia 3 cases (4.78), pseudomonas 5 cases (7.93), proteus 7 cases (11.12), klebsiella 4 cases (6.43), bacillus 3 cases (4.76) and mycobacterium 2 cases (3.17). It was concluded that mixed infection is common in camel lungs.
