New possibilities of increasing lamb meat production by applying cross breeding method

The experiment included 4 lamb genotypes depending on the cross breeding combinations of parent pairs: A. F1 (Pirot Pramenka x Merinolandschaf); B. F2 (Pirot Pramenka x Ile de France); C. F1F1 (Pirot Pramenka x Merinolandschaf) x Ile de France; D. F1 (Pirot improved sheep x Ile de France). The effects of different combinations of sheep cross breeding on body mass and gain from birth till 90 days of age were investigated. The consumption and use of food and nutritive substances was also investigated. The dressing percentage, the meat yield of certain categories and more important chemical and technological properties of meat were defined in order to establish the yield and quality of meat.
