Stancic, I. ("Selection" - Institute for Sugar Beet, Aleksinac (Yugoslavia))
This paper discusses the influence of the number of genomes and the monogerm nature on the productivity of the F1 generation of sugar beet hybrid. Parental genotypes and experimental hybrids were investigated during 1989 and 1990. In accordance with the absolute values for root yield, sugar content and yield of polarized sugar the most favourable results were obtained using triploid hybrids with polygerm pollinators and CMS line 51-60 as maternal component. Using the analysis of variance of the half-sib the productivity of the F1 hybrid (except for sugar beet content) was significantly influenced by the genotypes of the maternal CMS lines.
