Genetic specificity of reproductive organs of maize with respect to drought was studied. The study included 50 HS families of two synthetic populations (NS 796 A/92 and NS 2040 B/92) which were tested under the conditions of water deficiency of -144 mm and -188 mm during the vegetation period. The drought had negative effect on all studied characters. The respective grain yield decreased for 26.7 and 36.8, percentage of sterile plants increased for 1.2 and 86.1, the interval between pollination and silking prolonged while number of ears per plant decreased. Negative correlation was found between grain yield and percentage of sterile plants, and between grain yield and silk delate, while positive correlation was found between grain yield and number of ears per plant at both populations.
