Rubber wood is susceptible to attack by various wood degrading agents when kept untreated. It is possible to ensure a temporary protection of rubber wood logs by spraying of a mixture of 3% sodium pentachlorophenate (NaPCP) and 2% borax solution. The sawn timber of the species can be treated satisfactorily by the Lowry empty cell process following a moderate treatment schedule with conventional water-borne preservatives.
