Rapeseed oil and fat-rich rapeseed cake in dairy cows' ration
1996
Karis, V. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia))
Rapeseed oil can be successfully used to increase the energy concentration of the dairy cows' rations, especially during early lactation. To satisfy partial energy requirements of cows with rapeseed oil, it is inadvisable to remove all the oil from the seeds. Some of the oil must remain in the cakes, in which case the fat content of the rapeseed cake should be from 10-12. Cake with such fat content can be fed to the cows as a protein and energy source, at 2-2.5 kg per day. Greater daily amounts can be used only in cases where milk is produced for drinking purposes, as the oil can adversely affect the quality of the other dairy products
