During 1991...1993 after-effect of grasses on the yields of winter wheat, spring wheat, spring barley and yield quality was studied. Best grain crop yields were harvested after legumes and their mixtures. In the first year of research the obtained yield of winter wheat was 5.34...7.02 t ha (-1). Biologically fixed nitrogen and the positive effect of remains of crop residue manifested in the second year as well, when the grain yield of spring wheat was 4.51...5.76 t ha (-1). In the third year of after - effect raise in grain yield was insignificant. The highest level of gluten content in grains - 27 per cent was obtained seeding winter wheat after hybrid alfalfa
