About condition dynamics of sows in pregnancy and lactation

Dynamics of condition score (CS) of sows expressed as a relation of backfat depth (BD) and live weight (LW) during the reproductive cycle of sows is discussed in the paper. The highest CS points had gilts at their mating - 0.24...0.27. During pregnancy condition score was decreased an average by 0.02...0.04. Sows were at their mating much leaner - their CS was an average 0.14...0.20. In pregnancy condition score of sows also did not improve. In lactation CS of gilts and sows was steeply reduced. Sows very lean at their mating had at the weaning of piglets CS near by the "critical level" - 0.12
