In a survey made during the period 1985-1989 in nurseries of various districts in Greece the following nematological infestations were detected: Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb in citrus, T. semipenetrans, Helicotylenchus sp. and Rotylenchus sp. in olive trees, Meloidogyne javanica Chitwood in almond and peach trees and M. hapla Chitwood in kiwi vines. The species Tylenchus davainei Bastian was recorded for the first time in Greece, in the regions of Korinthos (in citrus and olive trees), Messolongi (in olive trees), Larissa (in English walnut, chestnut, apricot, almond and peach trees) and Veria (in peach and apricot trees). Also Hoplotylus femina s'Jacob was found in Tirnavos, Larissa (in transferred soil for use in soil mixtures). The population density of the above phytonematodes was estimated. Species of less economic importance observed are classified according to the nursery stock.
