In a three-year-study about 50-60 varieties of barley, rye, triticale and oats, were evaluated for their response to treatment with Flordimex T.Extra (660 g/l etephon) + Bercema CCC (500 g/l chloromequat) at rates of 0,8 + 0,4 l/ha, respectively, found the best for the purpose. The weather in the years of the trial were very different from each other, so during 1990 with favourable, 1991 with average rainfall conditions, and in the very draught year of 1992 the response of varieties could be compared under different ecological conditions. A new assessment system was worked out for the determination of efficacy and sensitivity, taking changes in plant height, lodging and yield into consideration: the "regulator effect index" and the "relative sensitivity".
