Improvement of a composite cultivar of maize for fall planting in Iraq

A breeding program was started in 1984 to breed a new maize cultivar by using modified mass selection. The original maize population used as a genetic base for the program was the synthetic cultivar Neelum. After eight cycles of selection a new cultivar was improved and given the name (Buhooth 106)
