Seedpotato production in Iraq. 1-Basic seedpotato production using meristem tip culture technique

The aim of this study was to produce virus-free basic seed potato through shoot apical meristem culture. Nodal segments were excised from apparently healthy plants in addition, shoot apical meristems with 2-4 leaf primordia and measuring about 0.2-0.5 mm were excised from vegetative shoots of potato tubers. Both types of explants were cultured on MS medium supplemented with specific concentrations of growth regulators and incubated in the culture room under controlled temperature and light regimes
