1997
Priekulis, J. (Latvian University of Agriculture, Jelgava (Latvia). Agricultural Engineering Dept.)
The given research is based on the analysis of the expirience in several developed European countries (e.g. Germany, Sweden, Netherland). The optimum number of cows in one barn depending on the applied technology and machinery is defined. The investigations show that loose housing along with technological equipment produced in Latvia are most suitable in sheds for not less than 50-60 cows. The special expenses on loose housing are cut down even in cowsheds for 120 cows. The presented tables show (1) technological systems for different numbers of cows, (2) the functional scheme of dairy farms, (B) changes of special expenses depending on the number of cows as well as on the applied technology and machinery.
