[Processing wax raw materials in the apiary]

The importance of wax for successful bee-keeping and honey production is explained. Bee-keeping and wax production technologies in Latvia are described. The methods of wax production from old honeycombs are analysed. The aim of the given research is to design a wax melting equipment for small and medium apiaries. An electrically heated wax melting unit based on the results of the present research has been made, its design and operation are discussed. Several methods of honeycomb melting have been compared. The results of the comparison are shown in a table.
