A brief survey of the main laboratory diagnostic methods is presented. Various assays for antigens are discussed, their strong and weak points are evaluated (sensitivity, specificity, how much time and labour consuming they are). The idea of a latex agglutination test as one of the most convenient for small clinics and laboratories is recommended.
