Morphological characteristics and production performance of Achhami cattle

Achhami cattle are dwarf breed specially found in the hills of Achham district. Black is dominating body coat color. In most of the body parts, Achhami cattle are significantly smaller than Pahari and Siri cattle but the tail and switch length of Achhami cattle are significantly longer than Pahari cattle. For ear length, fore feet above knee and fore feet below knee, Achhami cattle were not significantly different from Pahari cattle. The highest and the lowest difference between Achhami and Pahari were observed for body weight and fore feet below knee respectively. Similarly difference between Achhami and Siri cattle were noted 146.43 percent and 2.78 percent for body weight and ear length respectively. Paritywise highest milk production was obtained from 4th to 6th lactation ranging from 0.5 to 1.25 litres.
