Significant additive and non-additive effects were observed for all three characters studied expect boll weight for which only additive effects were significant in a 6-parent dialled cross experiment in G. hirsutum L. The maternal effects were found for number of bolls and seed cotton yield. Reciprocal differences were significant for all the characters except for boll weight. The failure of regression analysis for all the characters suggested the presence of non-allelic interaction. The additive-dominance model was rendered inadequate largely through maternal and reciprocal effects.
