Gene action controlling yield and some agronomic characters in wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell)

Five wheat varieties/lines viz; LU26, Pak81, Punjab85, Sl312 and S1018 were crossed in a diallel fashion to determine the gene action controlling yield and agronomic characters. Plant height and number of fertile tillers per plant were conditioned by additive expression with partial dominance whereas days to heading, grain weight per ear and 100 grain weight were governed by partial dominance. Days to maturity and grain yield per plant showed complete dominance.
