Results of a four year study on maturity indices for pummelo conducted at the Davao National Crop Research and Development Center revealed that variety Amoy Mantan, Magallanes and Dela Cruz (Pink) could be harvested at 166 days from flower opening while Siamese and Sunwuiluk required 173 days. Fruits at this stage showed the following indices: A) Visual means - a.1 Color change - dark green to light green, a.2 size of the fruit-polar diameter (10.57 to 16.25 cm) equatorial diameter (10.97 to 17.43 cm), a.3 Rind glossy, a.4 Oil gland-closer distance but bigger in size, a.5 calyx lift and curl; B) Physical means - b.1 Ease in harvesting or abscission, b.2 Hollow sound emitted by fruit when tapped; C) Chemical Analysis (based on 166 days fruit age) - c.1 Minimum total soluble solids - 9.0 Brix, c.2 Minimum tritable acidity - 0.63 percent, c.3 Solid to acid ratio - 15:1, and c.4 Minimum juice content by weight - 36 percent
