Effect of granular insecticide (Furadan 3G) against borer, yield and yield components of maize

Two applications of Furadan 3G (at the rate of 10 kg/acre), at 25 and 45 days after sowing in the whorl against maize borer (Chilo partellus Swin.), significantly reduced infestation (6.77%) and increased yield (72.16%). It enhanced plant height (268.07 cm), number of cobs (1.50/plant), cob diameter (4.96 cm), cob length (23.57 cm), number of grains (544.16/cob), grain weight (151.21 g/cob) as compared with other application timing and check.
