1994
dela Cruz, A.Q. | Cacatian, W.G. (Palawan National Agricultural Coll., Aborlan, Palawan (Philippines))
A study was conducted to identify the most appropriate storage techniques of corn to be used in the farm and to prolong the storability of the corn grains. Results revealed that corn grains (14 percent M.C.) sprayed with vinegar and mixed with ashes plus smoking application could be stored for 8 months. It also showed that sea water and smoking application to corn ears with 15-16 per cent moisture content could be kept in 6 months. Storing hybrid corn using the halayhay method can be stored for only 4 months. The average percentage germination of unhusked corn and corn grains stored for 5 months was 85.4 percent and 49 percent, respectively
