Adaptability of selected Asian isolates of Pleurotus sajor caju (Fr) Singer using the Central Luzon State University mushroom technology

The mycelial and basidiocarp performances of selected strains of Pleurotus sajor caju from Asian countries were evaluated using the Central Luzon State University mushroom technology. Pleurotus sajor caju isolates from the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, India, Hongkong and Indonesia were grown in a mixture of Volvariella volvacea mushroom spent, sawdust and rice bran at 7:1:1 substrate combination. Asian isolates were evaluated based from their morphological attributes such as size, weight and number of basidiocarp and their production efficiency indicators which include the number of days of primodial appearance, biological efficiency and productivity period. Results showed that among the six Asian isolates, P. sajor caju Thailand isolate can be successfully propagated using the Central Luzon State University mushroom technology. Japan isolate on the otherhand, did not show promising results as measured in terms of the number of basidiocarp produced, days of complete mycelial ramification, productivity period and biological efficiency
