Influence of plantation age and date of harvesting of herb on yield and chemical constitute of the nettle (Urtica dioica L.)

The highest cumulative yield of herbs and leaves was obtained on a two-year old plantation as compared with that three- and four-year old. The herb yield depended also on the date of the first cutting. The largest yield of rhizomes was obtained from the four-year plants. Independently of the age of plantaton, the rhizomes yield markedly increased as the first cutting of herb was retarded. The content of assimilation pigments was highest in the leaves from the two-year plantation. Calcium and magnesium contents were several times higher in the leaves than in the rhizomes, but did not depend on the age of plantation and date of herb cutting
