Determination of apple potential yielding capacity by index of annual tree increment

The results of the long-term investigation on the dependence of the annual tree increment, evaluated by the area of the annual ring, on the apple yield have been presented. It has been found that during the heavy bearing, the correlation between the growth and yield of Kalvil' Snezhny and Borovinka cultivars varied in the limits of 3.4-3.9 and 7.3-8.0, respectively, as to the year of the experiment. On the basis of the annual increment data the mathematical models have been composed, which forecast the potential yielding capacity of six apple cultivars introduced in the South of Russia
