In vitro cultures of conifers and their role in the vegetative propagation

The work presents the results of micropropagation of Pinus nigra via axillary bud development, adventitious bud induction and somatic embryogenesis. Somatic embryo development was achieved on basal media (DCR; 1/2 LM) containing ABA. After ABA treatment somatic embryos emerged from calli and developed to the early cotyledonary stage. Although occasionally small plants with green cotyledons appeared (after transfer to ABA-free medium) no plantlet regeneration was observed
