Production efficiency of feed mixtures with different nutritional content and substitution of fish meal by fly pupae meal was studied in the African catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell). It was found that feed mixtures prepared according to crude protein content recommended by official formulation for carp and trout do not allow the full expression of the growth potential of the African catfish. Better production parameters were reached by the foreign (German) mixture for eels. Fly pupae meal is not equivalent to fish meal. Feed mixture produced according to the formulation suggested in this experiment was equivalent in production efficiency to the foreign mixture for eels
