Mitigation of soil acidity and prevention of weed growth through mulching cloths

First results from using cloths with different fillings of crushed dolomitic limestone and dolomite and its effect on the growth of weed and spruce plants as well as on soil properties over approx. 5 months in two localities with various site conditions are presented. The changes of soil properties were also observed in pot experiments. A favourable effect of the filling on soil properties was observed, especially magnesium content. With suitable dose and soil texture this effect is gradual. During the first growing season no significant differences were found in the development and growth of plants, but the cloths did prevent weeds growing in their surroundings

Clanok podava prve vysledky pouzitia plachticiek z textilii s roznou vyplnou mleteho dolomitickeho vapenca az dolomitu na rast buriny a sadenic smreka, ako aj na podne vlastnosti pocas asi 5 mesiacov na dvoch lokalitach s odlisnymi stanovistnymi podmienkami. Zmeny podnych vlastnosti sa sledovali aj v nadobovom pokuse. Vysledky ukazali priaznivy efekt vyplne na sledovane podne vlastnosti, najma na obsah horcika. Pri vhodnej davke a zrnitosti je tento ucinok postupny. Pocas prveho vegetacneho obdobia sa nezistili vyznamne rozdiely vo vyvoji a raste sadenic, plachticky vsak zabranovali rastu buriny v ich okoli
