The paper lists and characterizes in more detail the most important ecological factors in frequently occurring vegetation types in an inundation area of the Morava river: the water table dynamics, mechanical soil properties, and influence of human activities. The present data on water table changes were obtained in 1992 at two sites (Vysoka pri Morave-S, Male Levare-NW) within the inundation area of the Morava in representative plant communities: 1. Rorippa amphibia-Oenanthe aquatica, 2. Chenopodium polyspermum-Bidens tripartita, 3. Schoenoplectus lacustris, Glyceria maxima, 5. Carex gracilis, 6. Phragmites australis, 7. Potentila anserina-Ranunculus repens, 8. Cnidium dubium-Alopecurus pratensis, 9. Festuca nigrescens, 10. Populus nigra. The soil texture was also analysed. The most important human activities which affect the structure of vegetation are pointed out
