Nine heifers in 29th-31 week of lactation were divided into two experimental groups of 3 animals, and one control group of 3 animals. The cows in the first group (P1) were applied 10 doses with 500 mg BST in each dose. The 2nd group (P2) was applied six doses. No BST was applied in the control group (K). All animals were fed and treated alike. The samples were taken at 3 hour intervals during the first 72 hours. The first sampling took place before the 10th (group P1) or 6th (group P2) BST application. Blood was sampled at 6 hour intervals to 192 hours. BST concentration in blood rose 11.6 times in animals in P1 group and 5.1 times in animals in P2 group compared with the control group during the first 72 hours. BST concentration rose markedly in both groups during the whole 192 hours of observation. The difference in tryodothyronine, tyroxine and insulin content in blood was not statistically significant between the groups during the period of observation. Thyerotropin content was the highest in group P1.
