Results of biological tests of enzyme products and their effect on fattening of broilers

Registration of new enzyme products is also a verification of their influence on livestock farming. For this reason the Central Control and Testing Institute for Agriculture has performed biological tests of the following products: Kenzyme Dry, made by Kemin; Avizyme SX, made by Finfeeds Intren. Ltd.; Roxazyme, made by Roche and enzyme products ZY-18, ZY-28, which were reported for registration by Lohmann-LTE- Gmbh. Each individual test was performed in 8 repeated experiments on broilers. Results can be summarized thus: Enzyme products containing beta-glucanase, cellulase, hemicellulase and xylanase enable the use of compound feedstuffs of high barley content to fatten broilers. No addition of beta-glucanase into the compound feedstuffs is needed for broilers if barley content is up to 20 %. Addition of enzymes improves economic effectiveness. When deciding whether to use enzyme products, the decisive role will be played by the price difference between barley and wheat, if other components are needed, and furthermore the price of the enzymatic product itself. No tested enzyme products added to feedstuffs affected sensory quality, chemical composition or slaughter quality of broilers.
