Environmental factors associated with tangerine plantation of the farmers in Bang Mod, Khet Rat Burana, Bangkok Metropolis

Objective of this research is to study the environmental factors that influence tangerine cultivation of planters in Bang Mod and to study their problems in order to provide them with a guideline for their problem-solving, implementation and conservation so that their tangerine cultivation will be fruitful and long lasting. The samples comprise 110 tangerine planters in Bang Mod area. Data collection was obtained through interviews and statistical analysis of the data was conducted by methods of Percentages and Chi-Squre. It was summarized that most tangerine planters paid good attention to their tangerine cultivation, though they were not so successful as they should be on account of several problems and obstacles, mainly due to water shortage, salty water and water pollution. However most want to continue their tangerine production. In the study of the relationship between socio-economic environmental factors and the planters' background with tangerine cultivation, it was revealed that the level of education and agricultural expenses were significantly related to tangerine cultivation activities while other factors were not related. It is recommended that there should be measures to prevent salty water and water pollution by forcing house development communities and factories to have waste water treatment and by providing tangerine planters with good water supply system, teaching them at the same time to understand and be aware of environmental problems that they must deal with in a proper manner.
