Effect of planting date on seed yield and quality of cucumber (Cucumis sativus Linn.)
1993
Winai Sangkaew
Effect of planting date on seed yield and seed quality of cucumber cv. Jed Bai (long fruit type) and C-4 (short fruit type) were studied at Tropical Vegetable Research Center (TVRC), Kasetsart University, Khamphengsean campus, Nakhonpathom province during July, 1990 to March, 1992. The results showed that for cv. Jed Bai, all planting dates (Jan., Apr., and Aug.) had no effect on seed yield. However January and August plantings tend to produce more good seed, weight and total seed number per fruit than in April planting. In cv. C-4, planting in July gave highest set yield due to more seed fruit than February and April plantings. The seed quality stored in paper and plastic bags under room temperature of cv. Jed bai at 9, 6 and 2 months and cv. C-4 at 15, 8, and 6 months had no effect on germination percentage and fresh yield.
