Main object of this study was to explore modernity and the use of forest resource of the people living in Ba Dan village, Tambol Udomsub, Amphoe Pak Thong Chai, This village is located nearby Sakaerat Environmental Research Station (SERS) which was promoted by UNESCO/MAB to be a Biosphere Reserves. The village is also not far away from Pak Thong Chai municipality where modernity is expected to be rapidly diffused to the community. Data in this study were collected and analysed by using interviewed schedules and SPSS program. In the results of the study, it was concluded that the villagers were modernized at the medium level and using the forest resource at the low level. Modernity related significantly with income level of the people studies but the relationship between modernity and the use of forest resource in this area did not exist as expected.
