Roles of home economics teachers in teachers colleges towards an environmental conservation

Objectives of this research were: to study the background and the roles of home economics teachers on their environmental conservation; and the relationship between roles on environmental conservation and ages, education, teaching experience and administrative position. The population consisted of 176 home economics teachers in every teacher colleges. The data were collected by using questionnaire. Statistical tools were percentage, arithmetic mean, mode and chi-square. This research found that most home economics teachers were women. The average age was 45 years. The average teaching experience was 19 years. There were 34.6 percents involved in administrative position. They played their active roles in an environmental conservation by teaching and extension, quality improvement, reducting depletion, recycling, renewing, substituting of resources and protecting of the environment. Ages, education and teaching experiences were related to some roles of the environmental conservation but administrative position did not have significant relationship with any role of the environmental conservation at 0.05 level.
