Gnathostomiasis is one of the fatal nematode infections to which at present effective chemotherapy is unavailable. Recently, ivermectin has been reported to be highly effective against intestinal and tissue nematodes. The efficacy against advanced third stage larvae of G. spinigerum of ivermection were tested in the white rats with a single dose or multidoses of 2 mg/kg. Worm reductions observed at week 20 after treatment were about 90 % in average but there was no cure rate.
