Agriculture as a branch of economy, based on its share in GDP, has different significance in different countries. The share of agriculture in GDP in EU member countries is 2.4 % and in CEFTA member countries 5.8 %. Within CEFTA, the highest share of agriculture in GDP is in Hungary (7.8 %), Poland (6.6 %) and Slovakia (5.6 %). The Balkan states show 17.5 % and the Baltic states 10.2 %. Another significant difference between countries is the share of agricultural population in the total number of economically active population (EU 5.5 %, CEFTA 21.5 %). The highest share of labour force in agriculture is in Poland (25.1 %), and in the Balkan states (up to 29.5 %). In CR this figure is only 5.4 %. The difference in the structure of ariculture is mainly determined by land area and its fertility and by the arable land allocation. The significant differentiation between CEFTA member countries consists in changes in the land owners' structure, the concentration of firms and their efficiency.
