Economic evaluation of breeding components of the Estonian Red breed cattle on the basis of milk yield

Data of 1765 cows from 67 economic units were examined. The number of sires was 160. A share of different genes in a genotype, gross income converted into money on the basis of monthly control-milkings of the first lactation year, income for basal milk, milk fat and milk protein are presented according to the milk purchasing prices in Estonia as well in Germany. The results of regression analysis show that the highest correlation with gross income for milk was observed in American Brown Swiss genes, after that in Ayrshire and Danish Red genes
