Paplauskiene, V. | Sliesaraviviene, L. (Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Dotnuva (Lithuania))
Variation of the chemical composition of perrenial ryegrass and meadow fescue in relation to the number of cuts and between cuts has been compared. The grass quality was poorer when cut twice than in the case of four cuts. There were qualitative differences between those two species as well as between the cuts. When cutting many times digestibility and fibre content tended to go down. A negative correlation (r = 0,74) has been established between digestibility and fibre content. Digestibility of crown rust-infested meadow fescue tended to go down, however the correlation between digestibility and disease severity was r = 0,64.
