Historical review on salmonella serotypes isolated in Latvia

The nature and the proceeding of salmonellosis for the first time diagnosed in Latvia in 1931 are explained. The methods of its diagnosing are described. Salmonellosis diagnostics scheme is shown graphically. Tables presented in the given paper show: (1) epizootic situation of animal salmonellosis in the period of 1967-1997; (2) salmonella cultures isolated in Latvia in the same period; (3) the cases of human salmonellosis in the years 1993-1997. The salmonellosis prophylaxis and control measures are discussed.
