[Competitive grain production on specialized farms]

Necessity of raising the grain production level in Latvia is explained. Factors determining the competitive ability of production are pointed out. Grain production level and production technologies have been studied on 29 specialized grain growing farms in different regions of Latvia. The results of the study have been evaluated according to EU methods. As the result of the studies the aims of competition in home market have been defined, it has been found out that the best grain growing farms able to compete in the market are in Zemgale region.
